Next Steps for Pastor Steve Meck

Steve Meck, Pastor of Care and Connection, began the process of easing into retirement last Fall when he decreased his hours to half-time in November. As he and Diane have continued to pray about this transition, Steve has decided, and communicated accordingly to Pastor Kevin, that it is time to take the next step in his retirement process. Beginning September 1, Steve will serve as Pastor of Congregational Care on a further-reduced schedule of 10-15 hours per week. In this role Steve will focus on hospital visits, ministering to shut-ins, and providing pastoral care (e.g., weddings, funerals, etc.) as needed, in coordination with the TrinityCares Team.

Trinity's Connection Ministry, which Pastor Steve has overseen, will be led and equipped by a team of staff leaders: Cyndi Leamon, Director of Ministry to Women & Children, Nate Harrison, Director of Communication & Connection Groups, and Lynn Olson, Administrative Coordinator. Men’s Ministry, which has also been a part of Pastor Steve’s oversight, will transition to a lay leadership team as God raises up these leaders. Some of our men are already gearing up for the Boundary Waters trip next month!

A search for a part-time (10-15 hours per week) Pastor of Congregational Care is beginning. Steve has graciously agreed to continue serving in this capacity as our team prayerfully seeks a candidate to fill this crucial pastoral care role. Steve's gracious flexibility allows for a transition to the next Pastor of Congregational Care anytime after September 1, preferably before the end of the calendar year.

Please be praying for Steve and Diane through this transition. We are incredibly grateful for their many years of serving here and for the tremendous love and care they extend to the Body of Christ at Trinity. Please also be praying for the search process, that God would be preparing the heart of the person that He is calling to this role.

After Pastor Steve's full retirement date has been set, we will have the opportunity to celebrate and appreciate his ministry with us. If you have questions about this transition or the candidate search (or know of someone who may be a great candidate!), please contact our Pastor of Administration, Paul Hagberg (
