October is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month
We recognize the deep grief that follows the loss of a baby and offers resources for women navigating miscarriage, whether their loss occurred recently or many years ago.
Lauren, a member of our Trinity community, has walked this path and she shares this:
”Until I lost my baby through miscarriage, I did not understand how many decisions follow a miscarriage diagnosis. Often a woman must decide how to manage the passing of her pregnancy, what burial options to pursue, and whether to conduct chromosomal testing. These decisions are delicate and must be made quickly, adding to the weight of grief.
In addition to the many decisions I faced, I was not prepared for the physical realities of loss. Passing my pregnancy was the darkest day I’ve experienced, and nothing can lessen the pain a mother feels when losing her baby. But, by God’s grace, I was given the necessary supplies to pass my pregnancy in a dignified way that honored my baby’s short but significant life.
Many miscarriages happen before a woman has announced her pregnancy which often leaves her to grieve alone. Because others may not have known about her baby, a mother may question whether her grief is valid or worthy of acknowledgment. She may feel that her loss is unseen and her sorrow insignificant.
To the mom grieving her baby, I pray you find comfort knowing Jesus is holding your precious child. Your healing journey is sacred and your baby is remembered. It is my sincere hope that no woman is left to navigate miscarriage alone.”
If you or someone you know received a miscarriage diagnosis, we can provide resources for both the immediate necessities of passing a pregnancy and for the long-term healing process.
