Gospel Primer Recap

Greetings Gospel Primer Participants,

Let me say ‘thank you’ to all 170 of you for being part of this gospel study. While I know that not everyone had the same experience (after all, we had 28 different Gospel Primer groups!), I’ve been so encouraged by the dozens of testimonies I’ve heard from hosts and participants over these 6 weeks – who have shared with me how meaningful and (and in some cases, transformational) this study has been.

Personally, I had the privilege of hosting two gospel primer groups, both of which were an absolute blessing, as I was daily inspired by the reflections, confessions, insights, and prayers from the guys in my groups. I've heard Amanda (and several other hosts) testify to the same.

One of my favorite testimonies came a couple of weeks ago when Amanda and I had someone in our home who shared (with tears in her eyes) how God has used this study and the reflections of those in her group to help her rest in the finished work of Jesus, instead of trusting in her own self-effort and striving. It was beautiful to hear her testify to how the gospel is growing the fruit of joy and peace in her life.

And then yesterday, on the final day of our Gospel Primer, I received many testimonies, including this one:

"This study has made me bolder: to pray more, to ask God for more, to confide in Him. The more I pray, the more encouraged I become. Lord, thank you for this study and the men in it. Through it I feel my relationship with You growing closer, and the Gospel becoming clearer."

I'll limit myself to one more testimony, one that serves as a fitting close to this study. It reads:

"Spending time in the truth of the gospel each day sounds so easy and just makes sense. But I can't even count the number of times that I skipped it because I wanted to watch TV or hang out with friends or just didn't feel like it. I am grateful for this study and the accountability of this group of guys, keeping me in the truth of the Gospel throughout the week. My challenge now is to continue to spend time in scripture after this study ends. God, you are so loving, I can't even grasp how much you love me. Thank you for giving me a willing heart to participate in this gospel primer. After this study is complete, I ask that you give each one of us a desire to continue pursuing You in the scriptures each day - so that we might experience your love and in turn learn to love You more. Amen."

If you've got a story of how the Lord worked in your life through the Gospel Primer study, send us an e-mail. We'd love to hear about it.

Thank you again for being part of this study. May God continue to do His transforming work in us as we root our hearts and minds in the good news of the gospel!

For His glory and our good –
