Revelation 19

November 17, 2022

“Then I heard what sounded like a great multitude, like the roar of rushing waters and like loud peals of thunder, shouting: ‘Hallelujah! For our Lord God Almighty reigns. Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory! For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and his bride has made herself ready.’” (v6-7)

The climax of the salvation story is a wedding between Jesus and His people. This shows that God’s ultimate goal in redeeming us is to be in relationship with us. And there is a day coming when we will experience this relationship, not in the context of a world marked by pain and sorrow, but a glorious Kingdom, marked by “rejoicing and gladness” (v7). No wonder, “Hallelujah!” is shouted multiple times in this chapter!

Father, Son and Spirit, I praise You that Your redemption of us will culminate in a relationship with us forever. I know You are already with me in the fiery trials of this fallen world. But I look forward to what it will be like to have You with me without the sin and suffering that marks this present life. Grow in me an anticipation for Your coming Kingdom, even as you strengthen me to faithfully endure until that glorious day.

Use the following steps to guide your daily time with the Lord…

  • Start with prayer. Ask God to open your heart to help you understand and receive His Word.

  • Read and observe the passage carefully. As needed, read a second Bible version to help with understanding.

    ➡️ What does it say?

What does this passage teach me about God? What does it say about my sinful nature and my need for God’s grace? How does this passage point to Jesus?

  • ➡️ What am I going to do about it?

Does this passage include a promise to claim, an action/attitude to avoid/embrace, or a principle to apply? How can this truth apply to my life? What could my next step be? How can I share this with others? Is there a verse or section of Scripture I need to memorize?
