Romans 15

June 13, 2022

“I urge you, brothers and sisters, by our Lord Jesus Christ and by the love of the Spirit, to join me in my struggle by praying to God for me.” (v30)

God’s calling on Paul’s life was to preach Christ where He was not yet known. And Paul knew he couldn’t tackle this ministry assignment on his own. He needed assistance from the Church. And so he requests several forms of help from his fellow believers: financial assistance (v24a), encouragement (v24b), and refreshment (v32). But the most important help that he “urges” the Roman believers to give him is to “pray for him” (v30), which Paul says is the way they can really “join him in the struggle.”

Father, I praise You for Your glorious purpose of making the gospel known throughout the whole world. And I thank You for the way You call some believers to the frontlines of unreached people groups, and other believers to join in that difficult assignment by supporting, encouraging, and praying for those on the frontlines. I lift up our Trinity missionaries to You today, asking for You to encourage them where they are discouraged, to revive them where they are tired, and to inspire them with all that they need to be faithful and fruitful in reaching those who don’t yet know You!
