Weekly Update - August 30
-
In this week's update, we'll cover an important deadline, a blast from my past, and an update on Pastor Jason Kelley...let's get to it.
FIrst, have you jumped on board a group for the fall? Our next round of Bible260 kicks off in just over a week, and we'd love to have you join us. Choose from texting, Zoom, or in-person groups and get serious about spending time in God's Word this fall. Registration closes this weekend, so tap the button below to sign up today.
In June, I had the chance to take my boys to my favorite pizza place in my hometown in Virginia. Standing in line, I bumped into Connie. 25 years ago, she was my Sunday School teacher. Because of her, this dapper kid began to understand the gospel, gave his life to Jesus, started serving in church, and said yes to a call into ministry. Connie played a massive role in my life as a teenager, and it was such a joy to be able to see her, give her a hug, and say thank you all over again.
We've got folks like Connie serving right here at Trinity. They're people like Tom, Debbie, and Tim. Their hearts beat for Kingdom work, and they long to help the next generation come to know and follow Jesus.
What if you said yes to serving on a team like Trinity Kids or Students? Or maybe you're wired for something like Care or First Impressions? Or maybe worship technology or chair stacking?
The fall is a great time to say "yes" to a serving role, and we want to help you find your place. Tap the button below to start the conversation about joining a team.
Before I give you an update about Pastor Jason, be sure to check out the details below for upcoming events like Lessons in Parenting, the Annual Congregational Meeting or our next Wills and Trusts Educational Seminar.
Finally, as Pastor Josh shared recently, earlier this summer, the Board extended an invitation to Pastor Jason Kelley to join the Trinity team as the Pastor of Young Adults and Discipleship. Jason's first day will be this Sunday, and we're looking forward to having him with us.
Jason is joining my team to help us serve, shepherd, and disciple the hundreds of new people who have joined the Trinity family. While he'll be involved with several things, his primary focus will be our Young Adult/Young Couples Ministry and Discipleship.
We’re excited by the work God has done over the past several years, and we’re grateful for Pastor Jeremy’s work to relaunch our young adult and young couples ministries. We’re looking forward to seeing how the Lord will use Jason to build on this foundation to shepherd these young people in the years ahead.
In addition to the work he’ll be doing with Young Adults and Young Couples, Jason will also be working alongside Cyndi Leamon, under Pastor Joshua and me, to build up our discipleship efforts as we continue to grow.
Now, because they still need to sell their home in Florida, Jason is moving up to South Bend this week – and his wife, Katie, and their six kids will follow later this fall. Once the whole family is in town, we plan to have a reception to welcome them to the Trinity family, so stay tuned for details on that.
That does it for me. I'll see you Sunday morning as we dig into Romans chapter 1.
