2 Peter 3

“The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.” (v9)
Just because it’s been two thousand years, and Jesus still hasn’t returned, doesn’t mean He’s broken His promise. It’s actually evidence of His patience and His desire that more people turn to and trust Him as Savior and Lord. I need to remember this in the midst of my own desire for His return. I long for new life in a new body on a New Earth (v13), but I need to long for this while also longing for others to turn to Him.
Lord, I praise You for Your patience. Without it, I would be lost. And so, just as You are patient for the sake of people (like me) repenting, help me to be patient, too, and see this time of waiting for Your return as the opportunity for others to turn to You. Lord, I pray that You will come soon, and establish Your kingdom on the New Earth! But until You do return, give me patience and a heart that longs to see unbelievers turn to You.

Use the following steps to guide your daily time with the Lord…
-
Start with prayer. Ask God to open your heart to help you understand and receive His Word.
-
Read and observe the passage carefully. As needed, read a second Bible version to help with understanding.
➡️ What does it say?
What does this passage teach me about God? What does it say about my sinful nature and my need for God’s grace? How does this passage point to Jesus?
-
➡️ What am I going to do about it?
Does this passage include a promise to claim, an action/attitude to avoid/embrace, or a principle to apply? How can this truth apply to my life? What could my next step be? How can I share this with others? Is there a verse or section of Scripture I need to memorize?
