Acts 17
February 28, 2022
“Now the Berean Jews were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true.” (v11)
What a refreshing response to the preaching of God’s Word for Paul and Silas! After enduring a beating, imprisonment, and a riotous mob in previous cities, here in Berea they meet a group of people hungry to hear the Word of God preached, and diligent to fact-check their preaching against the Word of God - which ultimately leads to many being saved (v12)!
Lord, I praise You for the gift of Your Word, which is our very life. Grow in me (and in the Trinity family) a heart to hear, read, study and respond to Your Word! May this year of being in the New Testament together be marked by a growing understanding of Your Word that deepens our love for You, our appreciation for Your Word and our commitment to Your purposes. Make us like the Bereans, who “examined the Scriptures everyday” (v11)!
