Galatians 2

March 24, 2022

“I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” (v20)

The first part of the gospel is that Christ was crucified FOR me, so that I might be justified and forgiven. The second part of the gospel is that Christ now lives IN me and THROUGH me - such that, in dying to my self-centered agenda, Christ is now the One driving the agenda, and leading me to live the life He created me to live.

Lord, thank You for loving me so much that You would die for me. And thank You for loving me so much that You would call me now to die with You - not because You are a cosmic killjoy, but because the cross is the path to Your resurrection life in me and through me. I gladly surrender myself to the cross today, knowing that “being crucified with you” (v20) is what leads to You living in and through me!

Use the following steps to guide your daily time with the Lord…

  • Start with prayer. Ask God to open your heart to help you understand and receive His Word.

  • Read and observe the passage carefully. As needed, read a second Bible version to help with understanding.

    ➡️ What does it say?

What does this passage teach me about God? What does it say about my sinful nature and my need for God’s grace? How does this passage point to Jesus?

  • ➡️ What am I going to do about it?

Does this passage include a promise to claim, an action/attitude to avoid/embrace, or a principle to apply? How can this truth apply to my life? What could my next step be? How can I share this with others? Is there a verse or section of Scripture I need to memorize?
