Hebrews 3

April 15, 2022

“See to it, brothers and sisters, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called ‘Today,’ so that none of you may be hardened by sin’s deceitfulness.” (v12-13)

The antidote to an unbelieving heart that turns away from God is “encouraging one another daily” (v13). And not with ego affirmation (which is what the world calls encouragement), but with reminders of the worthiness of Christ and His coming Kingdom. That is the kind of daily encouragement we need from each other to keep our hearts from being “deceived” by the allure of sin.

Father, I praise You for the daily manna You provide me in Your Word, which is the ultimate source of encouragement I need to remain faithful to You (v14). May our Trinity family not only feast on Your Word through NT 260, but learn to share Your Word with each other: in conversation, over texts, wherever we’re interacting with each other - so as to encourage one another to keep pressing on toward the finish line of our faith!

Use the following steps to guide your daily time with the Lord…

  • Start with prayer. Ask God to open your heart to help you understand and receive His Word.

  • Read and observe the passage carefully. As needed, read a second Bible version to help with understanding.

    ➡️ What does it say?

What does this passage teach me about God? What does it say about my sinful nature and my need for God’s grace? How does this passage point to Jesus?

  • ➡️ What am I going to do about it?

Does this passage include a promise to claim, an action/attitude to avoid/embrace, or a principle to apply? How can this truth apply to my life? What could my next step be? How can I share this with others? Is there a verse or section of Scripture I need to memorize?
