Luke 22
February 1, 2022
Just as the Passover Meal was an annual reminder of God’s redemption of Israel out of slavery to Egypt, so the institution of the Lord’s Supper is meant to be a reminder of Christ’s redemption of us from the slavery to sin. And that redemption would come about by way of SUBSTITUTION (Jesus in our place). ‘This is my body given FOR you,’ and ‘This...is my blood...which is poured out FOR you.’ Jesus didn’t just die; He died in MY place - so that God’s justice against sin (including my sin) could be upheld and God’s forgiveness of sin (including mine) could be given! (Romans 3:25-26)
Hallelujah! Thank You, Lord, for the good news of the gospel - that what You did on the cross, was FOR me! Thank You for taking my place so I can be reconciled to the Father, and made a child and heir in His kingdom, not because of anything I’ve done FOR YOU, but because of what You did FOR ME! May I remember this good news today, and live this day with gratitude and obedience in response to Your great sacrifice FOR ME.

Use the following steps to guide your daily time with the Lord…
-
Start with prayer. Ask God to open your heart to help you understand and receive His Word.
-
Read and observe the passage carefully. As needed, read a second Bible version to help with understanding.
➡️ What does it say?
What does this passage teach me about God? What does it say about my sinful nature and my need for God’s grace? How does this passage point to Jesus?
-
➡️ What am I going to do about it?
Does this passage include a promise to claim, an action/attitude to avoid/embrace, or a principle to apply? How can this truth apply to my life? What could my next step be? How can I share this with others? Is there a verse or section of Scripture I need to memorize?
