Acts 3

February 8, 2022

“Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord, and that he may send the Messiah, who has been appointed for you—even Jesus. He must remain in Heaven until the time comes for God to restore everything...” (v 19-21‬)

Repentance. Refreshment. Restoration. The doorway to refreshment (now) and restoration (later) is repentance - turning to and trusting in Jesus as Savior and Lord. Not only are our sins “wiped out” (v19) and washed away, but we now get to look forward to God “restoring everything” (v21). This is so much more and better than just floating up into heaven when we die to partake in some wispy existence. This is nothing less than getting to experience (forever) the redemption of creation - so that we might enjoy the beauty of this world without any of its thorns or thistles, any of its sin, suffering or death!

Lord, I praise You that Your redemption not only reaches to forgive my sins, but reaches as far as the curse is found - to reverse every aspect of the curse on this fallen world - so that we might - one day - enjoy the blessings of dwelling with You in a restored creation!

Use the following steps to guide your daily time with the Lord…

  • Start with prayer. Ask God to open your heart to help you understand and receive His Word.

  • Read and observe the passage carefully. As needed, read a second Bible version to help with understanding.

    ➡️ What does it say?

What does this passage teach me about God? What does it say about my sinful nature and my need for God’s grace? How does this passage point to Jesus?

  • ➡️ What am I going to do about it?

Does this passage include a promise to claim, an action/attitude to avoid/embrace, or a principle to apply? How can this truth apply to my life? What could my next step be? How can I share this with others? Is there a verse or section of Scripture I need to memorize?
