Acts 2

February 7, 2022

“They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts,” (‭v 46‬‬‬)

One of the fruits of the gospel is an authentic and joy-marked fellowship with other believers. As hearts opened to the good news of Jesus as Savior and Lord (v36-41), their homes opened, too (v46). Hospitality was a key characteristic of these believers who had come to saving faith in Jesus.

Lord, I praise You for enduring the cross (v23), rising from the dead (v32), and ascending back to Heaven (v33). You are Savior and King! Thank you for forgiveness of sins and the gift of the Holy Spirit (v38). And thank You for the Church (v42-47), in whom and through whom You are now illustrating how the gospel transforms us from being isolated and self-centered to being a family that welcomes one another into our homes. Lord, forgive me for my tendency to turn inward. Renew my heart with the good news of what You did for me - so that I’m inspired to open up my home to others!

Use the following steps to guide your daily time with the Lord…

  • Start with prayer. Ask God to open your heart to help you understand and receive His Word.

  • Read and observe the passage carefully. As needed, read a second Bible version to help with understanding.

    ➡️ What does it say?

What does this passage teach me about God? What does it say about my sinful nature and my need for God’s grace? How does this passage point to Jesus?

  • ➡️ What am I going to do about it?

Does this passage include a promise to claim, an action/attitude to avoid/embrace, or a principle to apply? How can this truth apply to my life? What could my next step be? How can I share this with others? Is there a verse or section of Scripture I need to memorize?
