“Jesus said to another man, ‘Follow me.’ But the man replied, ‘Lord, first let me…’”
“Jesus replied, ‘No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God.’
”
Even those who proclaimed a commitment to Jesus had excuses that got in the way of their allegiance. And Jesus does not pull any punches. He is not content to simply be a ‘part’ of people’s lives. Jesus is either Lord of all, or He is not Lord at all!
Lord, show me if there is any place in my life where I say, ‘Lord, I will follow you, BUT…’ And then, by your grace, deliver me from that idolatry so I can truly follow.

Does this passage include a promise to claim, an action/attitude to avoid/embrace, or a principle to apply? How can this truth apply to my life? What could my next step be? How can I share this with others? Is there a verse or section of Scripture I need to memorize?
